Sheriff's Explorer Program

The Sheriff’s Explorer Program was introduced by Deputies Victoria Collins and Blake Stebbing.
The Explorer program is offered to young people – under the age of 21 – as an introduction to a career as a law enforcement officer or a career in the military. The program is dedicated to training, preparatory skills and community service.
Explorer Justin Tomasello talked a bit about his experience in the program. Lots of community service, he especially enjoys the ride-along program. Between Justin and his associate Robert Hernandez, they have spent 5,000 hours in the program.  They do compete in competitions with other Explorer programs – and last year earned a 2nd Place in Crime Scene Investigations!
Explorer Robert is “ageing” out of the program in a few weeks and is looking forward to joining the department as an official deputy.
The program is NOT funded by the Sheriff’s Department and relies on donations from the community. They need donations to help with their expenses and to pay for their uniforms and other supplies.
While they were here, Rory presented them with our donation check to help with this year’s expenses!
